Just about every comics fan knows about the infamous clone saga era in Spider-Man history that started in 1994. But even a year or so before the arrival of Peter Parker’s clone Ben Reilly, the powers that be at Marvel Comics attempted to give Spider-Man a “dark” makeover and portray the character closer to DC Comics Batman whose books were beating Marvel in sales numbers thanks to the Knightfall saga.
Spider-Man and His Amazing Frenemies
Not only has Spider-Man battled everything from common muggers to cosmic level threats with just about every hero from the Marvel Universe, but I believe he also has the greatest number of enemies who have reformed and become heroes (or anti-heroes anyway).
The Not So Tiny Tale of Ant-Man & The Wasp
Over the years, a few individuals have taken on the identity of Ant-Man and the Wasp to varying degrees of triumph and tragedy with many other costumed identities spinning out from their legacies.
Cable: The Most Complicated Mutant of All Times
Who is this mystery figure with one of the most complicated backstories in the Marvel Universe? While most of his early years were told non-sequentially, I’ll give you the whole story from start to finish.
Avengers: Infinity War
SPOILER ALERT!!!
According to the financial figures, it seems like all anyone saw or talked about this past weekend was the new Avengers: Infinity War movie. Now the big question is, where does the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s characters go from here?
Spider-Man: Back In Black, Again
Will Spider-Man be wearing just another cloth version of the suit or will it be an alien symbiote, which he rejected in the past after learning of it’s true nature? The majority of the times Spider-Man has worn the black suit it has been during times of great stress or darkness.
Quasar: Linchpin of the Marvel Universe
While I enjoy reading about a Deadpool or Punisher and I also wish we had more heroic role models in modern comic books that we could show to and share with our children, like the character of Quasar. Not only did Wendell Vaughn portray a more heroic figure written by the late, great writer Mark Gruenwald, but he also gave many of us a character we could look up to and wish we had people like that in our real life.
Bucky Barnes: After the (Infinity) War
We keep getting teased that not everyone will make it out of Infinity War and it’s as yet unnamed sequel alive. I have a few theories on how this could pertain to Bucky Barnes and his taking a bigger, more active role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ghost Rider: The Zarathos Conspiracy
A comment made in a Marvel comic this past week got me pondering about another entity, Zarathos, who was bonded with Johnny Blaze to become the first modern Ghost Rider. Not only do I think there’s another “conspiracy” here, but I think it ties into my last one.
Moon Knight: The Khonshu Conspiracy
One of the only major Marvel characters that hasn’t been replaced even temporarily by a new character and has probably gone through more changes than any other hero. My theory? That “Marc Spector”, Moon Knight is actually Khonshu, the Egyptian deity that Moon Knight originally strove to serve.
