With the holidays almost upon us, I thought this would be a good time to take a look back at some of Marvel and DC Comics many classic superhero holiday tales.
Doomsday Clock #1
This past Wednesday, we got the release of the first issue of Doomsday Clock #1, the limited series that will finally introduces the characters from the twelve issue Watchmen series from 1986-1987 created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons to the more widely known superheroes of the DC Universe.
Brian Michael Bendis: The Marvel Years
This past week the BIG news hit the internet: long time and prolific Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis announced his upcoming departure from Marvel Comics when he signed a contract with rival DC Comics.
When you think about the man and his career, he has influenced much of what Marvel has done in the last 2 decades.
Peter David (Legend of Comics)
This week we get the honor of talking to Peter David, who has written many classic characters and stories in comics and novels.
I figured I could talk about just a few of the man’s many comic book writingaccomplishments here before the interview.
Smallville
I have been doing some research and I got to thinking. Why Didn’t Siegel and Shuster being from Ohio make Kal-L’s ship land in Ohio?
So I started digging it seems Superman’s landing spot has an interesting history of it’s own.
Marvel Legacy (How Marvel Can Become Number One In The Hearts Of Fans Again)
This month, Marvel starts the process of returning many of their classic characters and elements back into their comics.
While many have debated if perhaps the trend of introducing new characters in the guises of original heroes is the main factor in slumping sales, Marvel has promised Legacy will bring back many classic elements (and issue numbering) while still satisfying the fans of the new generation of characters.
Better Than Batman (Why Batman's Allies Will Eclipse Him In The DCEU)
I believe after the financial success and critical acclaim Wonder Woman generated, the powers that be realized that not every DC movie has to be “Batman Dark”, grim and gritty.
I have a theory that the upcoming (and possible future) spinoff movies starring Batman’s sidekicks and allies will surpass the current iteration of Batman in ticket sales and popularity.
Hawkeye (Kelly Thompson's "Real" Hero)
Kate Bishop, the newest version of Hawkeye is probably the only hero who I wouldn't mind replacing her predecessor.
Why? How does Kelly Thompson do it?
The Inhumans (Family Business)
While not a big budget movie, Inhumans certainly looked the part, filmed in IMAX.
Many of the characters and plot points that fans thought would hurt this series are actually strengths. WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!!!
Moon Knight on Netflix (Why The Hero And His Alter Egos Deserve Their Own Series)
But there is one hero who constantly keeps getting mentioned by fans as a favorite choice for an upcoming Netflix series—Moon Knight!
While those not as familiar with the character sometimes compare him to DC Comics Batman, Moon Knight is more complex and not as predictable.
