DEADPOOL Casts Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Colossus to Return

She should've been Wonder Woman and now she's a Morlock.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed yesterday that the upcoming Fox movie Deadpool has cast action star and mixed martial artist Gina Carano as obscure Marvel Comics character Angel Dust.  Carano joins star Ryan Reynolds and T.J. Miller in the film, to be directed by Tim Miller, which will start filming in March somewhere in Vancouver.

Carano, 32, is probably best known as Riley Hicks in Fast & Furious 6 and as Mallory Kane in the 2011 film Haywire.  She recently appeared on the Fox television series Almost Human as the XRN Danica, and is slated to appear in the 2015 reboot of Kickboxer.

In addition, the article also mentions that X-Men member Colossus (played by Daniel Cudmore in the films X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be appearing in Deadpool, although it's not known if Cudmore will reprise his role once again.

Created in 2002 by Geoff Johns and Shawn Martinbrough, Angel Dust first appeared in Morlocks #1, as Christine, a young girl who lived happily with her parents until her mutant powers of increasing her adrenaline to giver herself super-strength emerged.  Afraid of what her parents would think and the possible danger they could be placed in, Christine ran away from home and soon joined up with the outcast group of mutants known as the Morlocks.

Later on, Angel Dust was one of the many mutants who lost their powers in the wake of M-Day, an event created by the mentally ill Scarlet Witch.

Deadpool is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 12, 2016.
