The name's Doctor...The Doctor.
On the 56th anniversary of the premiere of Doctor Who, the BBC has released the first trailer for Doctor Who Series 12, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, which teases the return of several monsters, including the Judoon, the Cybermen, and the Racnoss.
The trailer for the 10-episode season opens with the Doctor and her companions Graham O'Brien (Bradley Walsh), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) and Yasmin "Yaz" Khan (Mandip Gill) arriving for a formal social event dressed in black tuxedos, albeit with Yaz opting for a black leather jacket instead.
The Doctor introduces herself in a very James Bond-like fashion, saying, "The name's Doctor...The Doctor."
We hear Stephen Fry's unidentified character tell the Doctor and her companions, "The security of this entire planet is at stake. Can we rely upon you?"
Next, we see the Doctor boarded up in a wall with another woman, remarking, "I'm not where I wanted to be, but I can work with this."
We see a Judoon stomp into view, saying, "Fro Jo Po!", followed by a hissing Racnoss named Queen Skithra (Anjli Mohindra).
Wearing some sort of head lamp, the Doctor asks someone who may or may not be Nikola Tesla and another woman, "I don't suppose you've seen anything weird around here?" Tesla asks the Doctor, "You believe this is alien?"
Next, we see Yaz in period attire and an older man being chased through the streets by a large scorpion-like creature, followed by Yaz in a car asking the Doctor, "What's the plan?"
In the TARDIS, the Doctor asks Graham. "Do you trust me?" This is followed by Ryan screaming as the car he's in presses its own gas pedal and drives backwards on a busy motorway. Back in the TARDIS, Graham (wearing some sort of helmet device) replies, "Do I have to answer that?"
We see Lenny Henry's character firing his gun at someone pursuing him and the driver in a moving car, followed by the Doctor being told that she's in 1943 Paris.
In a somber moment in the TARDIS, the Doctor tells her companions that "Something's coming for me," hinting at a special Series 12 enemy. "I can feel it." This is immediately followed by glimpses of a rusted-out Cyberman.
"Let it come," replies Ryan.
"'Cos we're your mates," adds Yaz.
"Family," adds Graham.
We see the Doctor being attacked by a swarm of bat-like creatures, then warning people to get away from some mysterious gas-masked me teleporting into view and firing their weapons.
As another threat pushes its way through the TARDIS doors, Yaz says, "I didn't know things could get into the TARDIS."
"Neither did I," replies the Doctor.
Graham asks the Doctor, "What have you brought here, Doctor?"
"I don't know," she replies as we see a tear fall down Yaz's face.
Lastly, we see Graham and Yaz struggling against airplane decompression, followed by the Doctor looking at something in horror.
