Party On, Dudes! The First BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC Trailer Has Arrived!

Most outstanding news for Bill and Ted fans.

Orion Pictures has released the first trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, the long-awaited sequel to '80s cult classic Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.  Stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprise their respective roles of Theodore "Ted" Logan and William "Bill" S. Preston, Esq., who are now enduring the monotony of middle-aged life and are warned by a visitor from the future of the need for them to create a song in 78 minutes that will save all life on Earth and the entire universe.

The one-minute, 15-second trailer opens with The Great Leader (Holland Taylor) telling Bill and Ted, "Twenty-five years ago, you played a concert in front of the entire world.  One month ago, you played in Barstow, California for forty people, most of whom were there for Two Dollar Taco Night.  Bill and Ted, what have you got to say for yourselves?"

"Be excellent to each other," replies Bill, repeating himself from the first film.

"And party on, dudes!" adds Ted, also repeating himself.

This time, however, the leaders from the future aren't buying it.  "You were supposed to unite the world," remarks the Great Leader in a voiceover, "and save reality as we know it."

We cut to a scene with Bill and Ted in a white room with their previous guitars hanging on the wall.  "Bill, we've spent our our whole life trying to write the song that will unite the world," remarks Ted.  "Why can't we just go to the future when we have written it?"

We get a quick glimpse of Bill and Ted's daughters, Thea "Little Ted" Preston (Samara Weaving) and Billie "Little Bill" Logan (Brigette Lundy-Paine), watching their dads offstage and Thea clutching her face in embarrassment at what she sees.

"And take it from ourselves!" Bill replies to Ted's question.

"But isn't that stealing?" asks Ted.

"How is that stealing, if we're stealing it from ourselves, dude?"

A quick glimpse of Death (William Sadler) air-guitar riffing with Bill and Ted follows, as Bill and Ted travel to the future, landing in a prison yard where the inmates are chanting "Death! Death! The end!" along with the future Bill and Ted, who are also tattooed and heavily muscled inmates.

The present-day Bill and Ted see their hardcore future selves and are typically stunned.  "No way!" they exclaim.

Future Bill asks the pair, "How'd you like our song?"

"It's a little on the dark side," replies Present-Day Ted with a shrug, "but, you know, that's cool."

Ruby Rose Leaves BATWOMAN, Show Will Recast for Season 2

Time for Gotham City to fire up the Bat Signal for a new Scarlet Knight.

Deadline is reporting that Batwoman star Ruby Rose is leaving the CW Arrowverse series after just one season.  The series is expected to return for Season 2 after recasting a new LGBTQ actress in the lead role of DC Comics' Batwoman/Kate Kane.  The series produced 20 of its planned 22 episodes, after Season 1 was cut short due to the Coronavirus crisis.

"I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season," said Rose in a statement.  "This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles."

She continued, "I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created.  Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me.  Thank you to everyone who made season one a success – I am truly grateful."

Rose, 34, is an Australian model, DJ, recording artist, actress, television presenter, and former MTV VJ.  She came out as a lesbian at age 12, and has identified herself as genderfluid.  In 2015, she wrote, produced, and starred in the short film Break Free, a tribute to gender fluidity, which became a viral hit, garnering more than 25 million views on YouTube.  In addition, she's appeared in the films John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick 3: Parabellum as the assassin Ares, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage as Adele Wolff, The Meg, Pitch Perfect 3, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.  Also, she has appeared on episodes of Orange is the New Black as Stella Carlin, Dark Matter, and Mr & Mrs Murder.

According to the article, "the two sides mutually decided to part ways after recently reflecting on the first season and its challenges", and the decision "is not related to the stunt injury she sustained during filming of Season 1, which left her facing paralysis and needing emergency surgery."

"Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best," said Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV in a joint statement.  The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman’s second season and long-term future, and we — along with the show’s talented creative team — look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months."

Batwoman is currently expected to return to The CW for Season 2 sometime in January 2021.

CBS All Access Orders STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Series Featuring Captain Pike's U.S.S. Enterprise

At long last, CBS All Access has decided to hit it.

Deadline has word that the CBS All Access streaming service has given a series order for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a spinoff from Star Trek: Discovery starring Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as First Officer "Number One"/Una, and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock.  Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be CBS All Access' third live-action Star Trek series, after Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, which debuted earlier this year.

According to the article, "the new series will take the trio of Spock, Pike and Number One and the U.S.S. Enterprise almost right up to the reign of Captain Kirk."  The premiere episode, set not long after Discovery's Season 2 finale, will be written by Picard executive producer Akiva Goldsman from a story written with executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet.  Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth will also executive produce the series, with Aaron Baiers, Akela Cooper and Davy Perez as co-executive producers.

Mount, Romijn and Peck will reprise their characters from Discovery's second season.  Mount first appeared as Captain Pike in the Season 2 opener "Brother", with Romijn's Number One debuting in "An Obol for Charon", followed by Peck's Lieutenant Spock in "Light and Shadows".

"This is a dream come true, literally," Goldsman said of Strange New Worlds.  "I have imagined myself on the bridge of the Enterprise since the early 1970s.  I’m honored to be a part of this continuing journey along with Alex, Henry and the fine folks at CBS."

"Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season," remarked CBS All Access’ Executive Vice President and Head of Programming Julie McNamara.  "This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek."
