"Come out to the coast...We'll get together, have a few laughs..."
-- John McClane, Die Hard
Hey there, movie fans! My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we reopen the Drunk Cinema Theatre to discuss the ultimate Christmas movie, Die Hard, the 1988 action film directed by John McTiernan and starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber, Bonnie Bedelia as Holly Gennero, and Reginald VelJohnson as Sgt. Al Powell!
In this third episode, Xan and I discuss things like which of us will get sick of the other first, Bruce Willis as David Addison on Moonlighting, Reginald VelJohnson on Family Matters, De'voreaux White ripping off Ray's Music Exchange in The Blues Brothers, Xan thinking Alexander Godunov is sexy, what we're drinking this time, anticipating Star Wars after hearing the 20th Century Fox fanfare, differences from the original novel Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp, Run-D.M.C.'s "Christmas in Hollis", the scene establishing McClane being barefoot and wearing only a tank-top t-shirt, the fake security guard who looks like Huey Lewis, my souvenir piece of the Berlin Wall from 1989, Karl being part Klingon, my enjoying Twinkies along with Sgt. Al Powell, Xan's rubber prop gun used in Die Hard, Theo doing all the work and probably skimming off the top, Genghis Khan stealing candy from the concession stand, how to swear in German, Karl wanting to kill Ellis, Hans' bullshit list of demands, Helsinki Syndrome vs. Stockholm Syndrome, the cringe-inducing scene where McClane has to walk barefoot across a floor covered in broken glass, Beethoven's "Ode to Joy", wondering why the two Agent Johnsons don't use their first names, Accutane probably giving me Crohn's Disease, Xan's phobia of eating in public, the Johnsons living with 20 to 25% of losing the hostages, Die Hard being a Hallmark Christmas movie, apologizing to Christine Peruski for not having her on Drunk Cinema yet, and more!
