THE FANDOM ZONE 200: "The Flash (2014) Pilot" Is Up!

"All my life, I've wanted to...just do more -- be more -- and now I am, and the first chance I get to help someone, I screw up.  What if Wells is right?  What if I'm not a hero?  What if I'm just some guy who was struck by lightning?"
"I don't think that bolt of lightning struck you, Barry.  I think it chose you."
-- Barry Allen and The Arrow/Oliver Queen, The Flash (2014): "Pilot"

Hello again, everyone!  It's time for another new episode of The Fandom Zone Podcast!  This time, my co-hosts Jesse Jackson & DJ Nik and I celebrate the 200th episode of The Fandom Zone Podcast by discussing the pilot episode of The CW series The Flash from 2014, featuring Grant Gustin as The Flash/Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, and Stephen Amell as The Arrow/Oliver Queen!

In this episode, Jesse, Nik and I talk about things like reaching 200 episodes, comparing the 1990 Flash pilot with the 2014 Flash pilot, our reactions to watching the pilot again, not having a live-action version of The Flash from 1991 to 2014, everyone being a supermodel on The CW, Grant Gustin debuting as Barry Allen in the Arrow episodes "The Scientist" and "Three Ghosts", Gustin's Barry Allen being a younger depiction of Barry Allen than John Wesley Shipp's, The Flash and Green Arrow being the CW version of Superman and Batman, the power of Luke Perry, Nora Allen's death being similar to Geoff Johns' retcon in the comics, Barry Allen studying the crime scene like Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes, Cisco and Caitlin being the Arrowverse version of Fitz and Simmons from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Caitlin's response to Barry's awkward question about why she doesn't smile more, the decision to feature Stephen Amell as The Arrow/Oliver Queen, John Wesley Shipp becoming Barry Allen's father in this version, nobody liking Eddie Thawne, Candice Patton becoming the first African-American actress to play Iris West, "Harrison Wells" going into his secret Braille room and getting out of his wheelchair, wondering why we got the Weather Wizard's brother as the first bad guy instead of the Weather Wizard, Eobard Thawne being responsible for Barry Allen becoming the Flash, the cliffhanger tease of Crisis on Infinite Earth, our favorite quotes of the episode, Secret Origins Annual #2, Nik and I peer pressuring Jesse into joining us to discuss WandaVision, and more!
